Kit Karzen is a roving independent photographer and drone pilot.

Raised in Los Angeles, California, Kit grew up as a decorated professional cyclist for the United States national team, and eventually transitioned into brand marketing for one of his sponsors, Oakley eyewear.

Kit’s informal training as a visual storyteller are influenced by his mother, a writer, and father, a photographer, who raised him to explore his surroundings with unwavering curiosity. In 2015, he left his corporate career to document the social and environmental issues that define our time.

His style as a visual storyteller flourished through his most intense and intimate bodies of work. In the wake of the 2016 Orlando Massacre, he produced his first photo essay titled “Dear twelve-year-old Kit”, featuring portraits accompanied by letters to his younger-self about those who made an impact on his coming out journey.

Whether he’s documenting the frontlines of domestic terrorism and environmental disasters, embedded with a presidential campaign, inserted in the middle of an NFL team’s pre-game huddle, or shooting unit photography around the world for The Amazing Race, Kit is traditionally hired by clients requiring coverage of sensitive or prominent subject matter that demand a great deal of trust, confidentiality, and self-sufficiency.

His work has been recognized by the Sports Emmy Awards for Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football and the American Camp Association for his documentary work on Camp Brave Trails, a summer camp for LGBTQ youth.

Kit is an FAA licensed drone pilot and undergone hostile environment and first aid training.

When not on assignment, Kit enjoys spending time outdoors, riding motorcycles, and volunteering for LGBTQ charities.
